What's New in NNS ADix 3.5 Build 17

New and Improved Features

NNS ADix 3.5 Build 17 contains the following new and improved features:

  • Import and Export of Pictures:
You can now directly import pictures from JPEG-, PNG- and GIF-files into Active Directory. Further you can
export pictures from Active Directory to JPEG-files.

Bug Fixes

NNS ADix 3.5 Build 17 contains the following bug fixes:

  • AD Import - Removing Values from Terminal Services Attributes:
You receive errors when removing/clearing the values for some Terminal Services attributes.
    This issue has been fixed.

Installing NNS ADix v3

Prerequisites for NNS ADix v3:

  • Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2
  • The Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 must be installed on the computer where NNS ADix will be installed
  • Administrative permissions on the computer where NNS ADix will be installed
  • Access to a Microsoft Active Directory Domain for post installation tasks
  • Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT, prior ADMINPACK) for export/import of Terminal Services (Remote Desktop
    Services) related attributes

Note:
In order to run NNS ADix and use all features after the installation, a connection to an Active Directory Domain
must be possible. If a connection to AD could not be established, NNS ADix will be started in Offline Mode.
(See the Help Topic "Running NNS ADix in Offline Mode" for more information).

Note:
NNS ADix can but need not to be installed on an Active Directory Domain Controller. The advantage of running NNS ADix
on an AD Domain Controller is the minimized network traffic. This is especially the case if you perform queries which are
returning a large number of objects (e.g. all user objects).

Known Problems and Limitations

  • Support for Windows 2000:
In NNS ADix v3 we are using some features which are not supported on Windows 2000 (e.g. "Attribute Scoped Queries").
Therefore we do not support the installation of NNS ADix v3 on a Windows 2000 platform.

Note:
Running NNS ADix v3 on an supported OS and exporting/importing AD objects which are stored in an W2k AD is supported.

  • Running NNS ADix v3 on a W2k8 or higher Domain Controller:
If you run NNS ADix on a W2k8 or higher Domain Controller and you want to import data, you must start NNS ADix with
    elevated privilges (run as administrator)
. Otherwise you will get an "Access denied error" on every object and attribute you
want to import despite you have sufficient permissions in AD.
